We are having a ball trying to find the right look for our mammoths. Madara has an amazing eye and an uncanny ability to work between very abstract and more realistic characters. The mammoth hair is a unique challenge in itself, especially because there are some tender moments in the book between the mother and baby mammoth.

I love seeing the bright colors and patterns. Everything is set in the interior of Alaska, so the landscapes have lots of potential. Is there a better playground for a baby mammoth and her herd? If there is, I can’t think of it!
